Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Feb. 3, 2011 Pioneering chef Cindy Pawlcyn, owner of three Napa Valley restaurants, was honored Thursday night as the 2011 Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of Northern California. Pawlcyn was a Girl Scout from an early age and said she learned important lessons during the camping trips and from earning badges, such as the cooking badge. “The Girl Scouts taught me to ‘be prepared,'” she said. “Nothing, it turns out, could be more important to a chef.'” ...more |

Many of them gathered this past Sunday to celebrate "Aunt Nan's" birthday and watch her receive long overdue recognition for the Golden Eaglet she earned in 1937. The Golden Eaglet was, between 1919 and 1939, the highest honor in Girl Scouts.
