Welcome to Girl Scouts of Northern California!
Thank you for your interest in starting a new troop and becoming a Girl Scout troop leader! As a volunteer, your most important role is to be excited about everything this opportunity affords you: a chance to partner with girls and an invitation to play a critical role in their lives.
What Does a Troop Leader Do?
Troop leaders and assistant leaders form the core adult volunteer team for a Girl Scout troop. Troop leaders and assistant leaders work in partnership with the girls in their troop to:
- Deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in an age-appropriate way, using the Girl Scout National Leadership Portfolio
- Attend and conduct troop meetings
- Communicate with troop parents and coordinate their contributions to the troop’s success
